All of us show up with a full set of talents and inclinations. You could spent lots of time fighting your nature, or trying to become a great generalist – or you could spend that time becoming a genius.
Genius, really? Yes, it’s a grandiose word, but everybody has the capacity to become a genius in some area of life. And the beauty of human existence is that other people will be utterly passionate about something we couldn’t care less about (which is why delegation works so well).
So instead of putting your effort into trying to become the person you feel you should be instead, pay close attention to the person you are. This is the realm where you can really set yourself apart — and be most useful to others.
